Welcome to the Nippon Kempo page hosted by The Martial Arts Club in Woodstock, Illinois. Nippon Kempo is a modern, scientific, and practical combat sport. While it is not steeped in the usual dogma associated with most traditional martial arts forms, it retains most of the traditional, spiritual and ceremonial aspects of the Japanese martial culture.
As a competitive sport, Nippon Kempo can be defined as a no-holds-barred fighting system of offensive and defensive methods, with equal emphasis on striking techniques with hands and feet, immobilization and controls, projections and take-downs. The adoption of adequate protection gear allows the practice of Kempo in full contact and full force mode, introducing students to a level of realistic combat unknown to other martial arts disciplines.
Nippon Kempo is also a superlative and formative sport for children and teen-agers. It provides a structured learning environment with challenging objectives; instills respect and self-respect; and is a superb form of exercise for boys and girls. In addition, children and teen-agers have the opportunity of learning basic, very effective self-defense techniques.
Nippon Kempo is a great recreational activity for adults and seniors desiring a safe and self-paced physical program—perfect for general fitness and weight loss purposes.
The Martial Arts Club in Woodstock, Illinois, is the only facility in the Midwest offering a Nippon Kempo training program with accredited and certified instructors. With over 3,000 square feet of training area, the Club provides instruction in a variety of martial arts disciplines, self-defense classes, and physical fitness programs.
